Manifesto for Urban Creative Districts

This manifesto, developed with the Sino European Innovation Institute, stems from the need to turn urban innovations in each different field of knowledge into practice, in order to set up multidisciplinary activities that could guide and restore balance in the contemporary urban development, following guidelines that focus on both social welfare and individual needs.
The real goal is to give rise to creative cities, both from material and immaterial point of views, so as to adopt and achieve the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development principles.

The “Desirable Land, Sant ‘Erasmo toward Expo 2015” book is a Manifesto for the protection of the agricultural-cultural heritage that sees as a case study the Sant’ Erasmo island and the relationship with the Venice lagoon. The aim of the book is to draw up guidelines for the development and promotion of the territory and to create a possible economic, social and physical model that is virtuous, alternative and leading for the development of the islands of the lagoon.

The project “Medusozoa – Trieste waterfront” articulates a proposal and re-launches the debate on possible interventions for Porto Vecchio in Trieste, in the light of the economic, social, political and technological conditions of the contemporary world. The strategy proposed by the project overturns the canons of the past by cynically assuming the most unfavorable socio-economic conditions of the contemporary crisis and making them the prerequisites of the project, but adopting pragmatic and innovative strategies with an ideal push and vision on the future through the complex metaphor of the Medusa as social activators.

The Kakuma Soko project aims to introduce a new market concept standard within a very complex environment; the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. Working with modules that can be reproduced, modulated and constructed with site-specific materials, the project provides the possibility to involve the community even during the construction phases of the market. The soil has been designed as a multifunctional device that distributes the fluxes and works as drainage system and waste collector.
